Elvis Opening Night 1975 CD
Elvis hadn't worked in five months when he came back to Las Vegas in March 1975 and although he carried a lot of uncomfortable weight inside his stage clothing, his spirits were higher than they'd been at the start of a Las Vegas engagement in years. If you take a close look to the set list(s) of this engagement, it shows that Elvis put in really lots of contemporary songs instead of his own 'Oldies'. For instance, Opening Night delivered just two songs from the '50s ('Love Me' and 'I Got A Woman'). Compared to setlists from the years before this new one was full of good choices. For us listeners of today it is even more: It's GREAT to hear Elvis doing so many well-performed songs!

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
